Credit Controller

Meise, Belgium

As a Credit Controller, you'll take on a broad finance role that goes well beyond following up outstanding receivables. You'll combine credit control with treasury and accounting responsibilities, working closely with colleagues from Accounting, Treasury, Commercial, Property Management and Legal across multiple countries.

Your role covers everything from weekly payment runs and customer follow-up to management reporting, bank postings and quarterly closing activities. You'll also contribute to projects such as setting up credit control processes for new entities, improving reporting and working documents, testing reminder flows and exploring opportunities to automate tasks.

This position is particularly suited to someone who understands accounting, works accurately and communicates confidently with both finance and commercial stakeholders. You'll act as an important link between the numbers and the business, while contributing to the day-to-day financial operations of an international organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage credit control activities, including sending payment reminders, analysing outstanding receivables and following up on customer feedback or disputes with the relevant internal teams.
  • Execute weekly payment runs for multiple entities, perform the required checks and coordinate payment lists with Accounts Payable.
  • Support treasury activities, including intercompany transfers and ensuring sufficient funds are available for loan repayments.
  • Contribute to accounting and quarterly closing activities, including bank postings, doubtful debt provisions, management reporting and other accounting entries.
  • Support finance projects such as setting up credit control processes for new entities in SAP, improving reporting and closing documents, testing reminder flows and exploring opportunities for automation.

Must have

  • A higher education degree with a financial or accounting background.
  • Solid accounting knowledge, including the ability to understand a balance sheet and income statement and take on accounting-related tasks.
  • Fluent communication skills in Dutch, French and English.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with customers and colleagues across Accounting, Commercial and other departments.
  • A highly accurate and responsible way of working, combined with confidence using IT systems and financial tools.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SAP or another ERP environment.
  • Experience with treasury activities such as payment runs, intercompany transfers or loan repayments.
  • Experience with quarterly closing activities and financial reporting.
  • An interest in improving finance processes, reporting and working documents.
  • An interest in automation and exploring how AI can support finance processes.

What's great in the job?

  • A broader role than traditional credit control: combine credit control with treasury, accounting, closing and administrative responsibilities.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: work closely with Accounting, Treasury, Commercial, Property Management and Legal across different countries.
  • Concrete ownership: take responsibility for recurring processes such as payment runs, reminders, reporting and selected closing activities.
  • Room to improve processes: contribute to better credit control reporting, reminder flows, closing documents and ways of working.
  • Exposure to change and automation: support the financial setup of new entities and explore opportunities to automate finance tasks, including through AI.
